What is the Cheshire Community Car scheme?

The Cheshire Community Car Scheme is provided for people who are unable to access conventional public transport due to mobility issues, physical disabilities or mental health challenges. The scheme’s main aim is to alleviate isolation and to provide opportunities for those who are often put at a disadvantage due to lack of accessible transport.

Depending on availability of our volunteer drivers, we can help you with different journeys to the supermarket, the dentist, opticians and, doctors. We also can help with social activities such as visiting friends or relatives.

The Cheshire Community Car Scheme has been set up to help people in the community. With a group of car owners, each volunteering a little of their time, we are able to help you, your neighbours and friends with transport issues.

Who can use the scheme?

Anyone who is unable to access conventional public transport that lives in the Cheshire West & Chester district (e.g. pays council tax to Cheshire West & Chester Council) can register for the scheme.

How much does it cost to use the scheme?

There is an annual £20 administration fee per passenger and then journeys are charged at £0.50p per mile with a £2.50 minimum charge.  Additional funding for this car scheme is kindly provided by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
