Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Checks

Cheshire CDT is registered as an umbrella organisation to process Enhanced and Standard Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checks on behalf of employers and/or organisations that recruit volunteers. Our experienced staff will guide you through the process to ensure that the check is done as efficiently and quickly as possible to reduce any possible disruption.  We offer this service to organisations across the United Kingdom.

What is a Disclosure Barring Service

In 2012, The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service. CRB checks are now called DBS checks. This service helps employers make more informed, safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable adults and children.

Who can access the Service?

Disclosure Barring Service checks can be processed on behalf of any employer or volunteer organisation across the UK providing the person being checked is fulfilling a role that includes a regulated activity. For more information on eligible roles, please see the following link: Eligible roles on gov.uk

We are not able to process DBS checks for individuals who are applying for themselves (e.g. self-employed).

How do I request a DBS check for someone I am employing or who is volunteering for my organisation?
