Like many charities throughout the UK, the effectiveness of Cheshire CDT is dependent on the additional resource, skills and enthusiasm of people who volunteer.
Volunteer with Cheshire Community
Many people who have volunteered in the past report feeling fantastic afterwards. There is something about doing something for reasons other than getting paid. Whether it’s just a little boost in mood, feeling like part of a positive team or simply knowing that you’ve made a real difference.
When we volunteer, we often witness real change as a result of our efforts and sometimes get to see the positive effects that our efforts have had on our community as a whole. Volunteers make a massive positive impact on people’s lives, often by giving nothing more than their time.
People volunteer for many different reasons but most of us want to help those less fortunate than ourselves. The majority of us do not volunteer because it benefits us, we volunteer because it makes a positive difference for others.
That said, it cannot be denied that the volunteers themselves get many benefits through their volunteering, here are a few benefits that our volunteers have said that they have gotten through their volunteering experience:
Increased confidence: Volunteering can help you gain confidence by giving you the chance to try something new and build a real sense of achievement.
Meeting new people: Volunteering can help you meet different kinds of people, make new friends and experience new cultures.
Being part of a community: Volunteering can help you feel part of something outside your friends and family.
Learning new skills: Volunteering can help you learn new skills, gain experience and sometimes even qualifications.
Taking on a challenge: Through volunteering, you can challenge yourself to try something different, achieve personal goals, practice using your skills and discover hidden talents.
Having fun! Most volunteers have a great time, regardless of why they do it.
Make a difference. Volunteer with Cheshire CDT and have a real, valuable and positive effect on people, communities and society in general.
